GREENEVILLE, Tenn - Travis Wayne Gunter of Church Hill, Tennessee, was sentenced to twelve years in federal prison, three years on supervised release following the service of his sentence, and restitution of $1,970.53, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee at Greeneville, by the Honorable J. Ronnie Greer, United States District Judge. Federal sentences are non-parolable. The sentence was the result of a guilty plea by Gunter on June 1, 2009, to a federal grand jury indictment charging him with multiple robberies of convenience stores in both Hawkins and Greene Counties from May 11, 2008 to February 5, 2009.

Gunter still faces charges in Hawkins County for a jail escape which occurred on February 4, 2009, in which two officers were injured.

PThe indictment and subsequent conviction of Travis Wayne Gunter was the result of an investigation conducted by the Greeneville Police Department, the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the Church Hill Police Department, and the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office.
